Dataverse capacity
Overview
Dataverse is where you securely store and manage data that’s used by the Dynamics 365 and Power Platform products, and by Copilot Studio. When you purchase the first Dynamics 365 Sales license you receive default Dataverse capacity entitlements for the tenant, and then you accrue further capacity with every additional license that you purchase. You can find a useful table in the Dynamics 365 Licensing Guide which details all these allowances – search for “Default subscription capacity included per tenant”.
Default capacity entitlements
A Dynamics 365 Sales Professional/Sales Enterprise/Sales Premium license includes these default capacity entitlements:
- 30 GB Dataverse Database capacity
- 40 GB Dataverse File capacity
- 2 GB Dataverse Log capacity
Accrued capacity entitlements
When you purchase further licenses to support a Sales deployment, you receive additional capacity entitlements.
Each Dynamics 365 Sales Enterprise/Sales Premium license accrues these capacity entitlements:
- 250 MB Dataverse Database capacity
- 2 GB Dataverse/Operations File capacity
Dynamics 365 Sales Professional licenses do not accrue additional capacity.
Customer example
For example, if Ochre Poker purchase 10 x Sales Enterprise User SLs they will be entitled to:
- Dataverse Database capacity
30 GB + 10 x 250 MB = 32.4 GB - Dataverse File capacity
40 GB + 10 x 2 GB = 60 GB - Dataverse Log capacity
2 GB
Further capacity
Customers requiring further Dataverse capacity can purchase Dataverse Database, File and Log Capacity Add-ons in increments of 1 GB. In July 2024 a Tier 2 SKU was added for Dataverse Database capacity, where customers can buy a minimum of 1,000 units of 1 GB capacity for a more cost-effective unit price. You’ll find purchasing minimums in the Product Terms.
History
In December 2025, Microsoft increased the default Dataverse Database capacity for Dynamics 365 Sales Professional and Sales Enterprise licenses from 10 GB to 30 GB, and the default Dataverse File capacity for both licenses from 20 GB to 40 GB.
