Licensing requirements

Copilot for Service is available as an Add-on license, costing $50 per month, for users already licensed with:

  • Microsoft 365 Business Standard/Premium
  • Office 365 E3/E5
  • Microsoft E3/E5

Copilot for Service and Copilot for Microsoft 365 go hand in hand and so does the licensing. A Copilot for Service license includes a Copilot for Microsoft 365 license and so you don’t need to buy both – buying the Copilot for Service license is enough for both sets of functionality. However, what happens if you’ve already bought the Copilot for Microsoft 365 license ($30) and want the Copilot for Service license too? Well, in the EA there’s a Step-up to take you from Copilot for Microsoft 365 to Copilot for Service, and in CSP the upgrade mechanism does the same thing. As usual, the cost for this path to a higher license is priced at the difference in price between Copilot for Service and Copilot for Microsoft 365, which is $20, of course.

Users licensed with Dynamics 365 Customer Service Enterprise licenses also see some basic Copilot functionality embedded within the Dynamics 365 interface. This is referred to as Copilot in Dynamics 365 Customer Service and does not involve an additional purchase as Copilot for Service does. You can find this information in the Dynamics 365 Licensing Guide, as shown below:
