Immersive Events

Overview

The Immersive Events feature enables you to create and host 3D interactive meetings in virtual environments for up to 300 attendees. You can customize scenery and spaces, and users join as avatars via PC, Mac, or Meta Quest VR devices.

Licensing

Both Immersive Events organizers and attendees need to be licensed with a Teams Enterprise license, or any Office 365/Microsoft 365 license that includes Teams.

Note that Immersive Events aren’t supported in GCC, GCCH, sovereign clouds, or EDU environments.

History

Microsoft announced the public preview of Immersive Events on July 28, 2025, and announced general availability on December 1, 2025. Microsoft Mesh was the precursor to Immersive Events but was retired with the GA of Immersive Events.

Prior to Microsoft’s Teams licensing updates from April 1, 2026, hosting an Immersive Event required a Teams Premium license. Attendees also needed to be licensed, but just with a Teams Enterprise license or any Office 365/Microsoft 365 license that included Teams.
