Extended Security Updates

When Windows client products reach the end of their support lifecycle, Microsoft no longer programmatically provide regular security updates. However, customers who need to continue running these older versions of Windows can purchase Extended Security Updates (ESUs) if they have eligible Windows licenses.

ESUs are no longer available for Windows 7 but you can find out how they worked here. ESUs became available for Windows 10 when it reached end of support on October 14, 2025, and you can find information about them here.
