Dataverse capacity

Overview

Dataverse is where you securely store and manage data that’s used by the Dynamics 365 and Power Platform products, and by Copilot Studio. Generally speaking, when you purchase the first license for a particular Dynamics 365 CRM solution you get an entitlement to default Dataverse capacities across the tenant. Often, further licenses accrue additional capacity, and there’s the option to purchase still more capacity if you need to.

Default and accrued capacity

The table below shows the different products and the varying Dataverse entitlements. Note that the default entitlements are only granted once – not every time that you purchase the first license of a solution area.

You can find the original table in the Dynamics 365 Licensing Guide – search for “Default subscription capacity included per tenant”.

If you just want to focus on the entitlements for specific products, then find individual pages for each of the products as below:

Further capacity

Customers requiring further Dataverse capacity can purchase Dataverse Database, File and Log Capacity Add-ons in increments of 1 GB. In July 2024 a Tier 2 SKU was added for Dataverse Database capacity, where customers can buy a minimum of 1,000 units of 1 GB capacity for a more cost-effective unit price. You’ll find purchasing minimums in the Product Terms.

History

In October 2025, Microsoft announced that there would be an increase to the default storage for Dataverse across all Dynamics 365 apps (excluding Business Central) and Power Platform from December 1, 2025. See the individual product pages for details on how much these capacities were increased.
