Windows 10 version 1903

Microsoft announce (http://bit.ly/30HUJSt) that the latest Semi-Annual Channel release of Windows 10 (version 1903) is now available to download from VLSC.

With this version, Subscription Activation now gives education customers the ability to step-up from Windows 10 Pro Education to Windows 10 Education eliminating the need to manually deploy Windows 10 images and then provide activation keys.

Shared Computer Activation available for Microsoft 365 Business

Microsoft announce that Shared Computer Activation will be available for Office 365 Business when it’s acquired as part of a Microsoft 365 Business licence.

A Microsoft 365 Business User SL only allows the installation of Office 365 Business on up to 5 PCs, but with SCA enabled a user may access Office 365 Business running (for example) in an RDS environment and it doesn’t count against that 5 PC limit. The roll out of SCA for Microsoft 365 Business customers began on 30 April, 2019 and is expected to take a couple of months.

Changes to Microsoft Licensing Terms documentation

Since the 1990s Microsoft have produced documents containing the licensing terms for their products. That’s all about to change… Today’s documents – the Product Terms and the Online Services Terms – are about to be combined into a Licensing Terms website.

This site is currently in beta and you can try it out here: http://bit.ly/2W2vj38. The associated FAQ (http://bit.ly/2HVsabn) tells us that the site will be live on 1st June, 2019 and the current documents will also be available until further notice. Update on Microsoft 365 From SA rights

Microsoft announce that they will not now remove the special Office Professional Plus installation rights that customers are currently entitled to with Microsoft 365 E3 and E5 From SA licences. The current rights are detailed on page 54 of the May 2019 Product Terms, and this announcement confirms that the rights are here to stay rather than being removed after 1st August 2019: http://bit.ly/2W7q4PN.

Dynamics 365 Licensing Guide

There’s an updated (May 2019) Dynamics 365 Licensing Guide. As usual, there’s a detailed Change Log on page 59, but the main edits you’ll see are some layout changes and information on licensing the new Customer Service Insights functionality.

Dynamics 365 Business Central Licensing Guide

There’s an updated (May 2019) Dynamics 365 Business Central Licensing Guide with three main changes.

Firstly, there’s wording added on page 4 to confirm that there are no minimum licence purchase requirements, and that Essentials and Premium licences may not be mixed.

Then on page 5 there’s a link included to a document which gives further information on how the Team Members licence works in Business Central.

And finally, page 6 sees the addition of text confirming that Business Central includes three External Accountant licences.
