Microsoft announce that Azure Virtual Desktop Hybrid is now in public preview.
It’s an aptly-named capability – the Azure Virtual Desktop service remains in Azure but you run AVD session hosts on your own hardware and connect everything through Azure Arc. This hybrid approach is designed to make transitioning to the cloud smoother, while also meeting the needs of organisations with strict regulatory and compliance requirements. From a licensing perspective, you need to be licensed (as with AVD) for a supported operating system. However, after the public preview phase there will also be a new Azure Virtual Desktop Hybrid licence – more details to follow when it’s available.
