Here’s a list of the most useful resources to help you find the information you need about Microsoft Purview:

Microsoft Purview Licensing Guidance website

The Purview Licensing Guidance website is a bit light on detail and only focuses on the user licensing options, but there’s a useful table showing the components of the Compliance mini suites. Note, however, that the ticks for Data Connectors should extend across all three columns. There are a number of other errors too which you can find documented by searching for the latest Purview Licensing Guide in the Licensing Guides Gallery. Microsoft Purview service description

The service description page is a good resource to find out about the individual Microsoft Purview components with some useful notes as to how they’re licensed and which Office 365/Microsoft 365 plans they’re part of. Many of the Microsoft Purview services are tenant-level services which means that they’re activated in part or in full for all users in the tenant, and this page has some good licensing guidance from Microsoft as to what you need to do to remain compliant.

Microsoft’s plan comparison document

One of Microsoft’s most popular resources, this plan comparison document is a splendid way to see which different components are included in the various Office 365/Microsoft 365 plans. It covers all of the different functional areas, not just Microsoft Purview.

Microsoft Purview in the Product Terms

It’s often a bit tricky to locate products in the Product Terms and the Microsoft Purview products are split between the Azure section for the consumption services, and the Microsoft 365 section for products such as the 10-year Audit Log Retention User SL.
