Licensing Dynamics 365 Field Service

A Team Members license is assigned to someone who needs limited use of the Field Service solution: they can view Field Service data and perform light updates, but can’t perform core service tasks such as scheduling or dispatching. The full Field Service license is assigned either to a user who needs to carry out a full range of tasks within the solution, or to a device used by such users. There’s no difference in the rights between the Field Service User and Device SLs.

There’s also a Field Service Contractor user license which is specifically for third-party technicians or external service providers that gives access to a subset of Field Service capabilities tailored for contractors. Note that you must purchase at least one Field Service license before you’re eligible to purchase and use Field Service Contractor licenses.

The snippet below is the top part of a useful table that you can find in the Dynamics 365 Licensing Guide which helps you to choose the right license for an individual – search for “Field Service use rights”:

In terms of minimum purchasing requirements, there are no minimums for either the Field Service or Field Service Contractor licenses.
