Show instructions Hide instructions
  • Type in your server count and click through the setup screens to tell the Calculator about your environment
  • Enter the number of unique users and client devices accessing SQL Server
  • For each server, select Standard or Enterprise edition, pick physical or virtual, and enter your CPU or core numbers
  • Watch the right panel update with recommended licenses as you fill in each field and adjust options like Software Assurance
  • When all fields are complete, review your results and click Export to Word to generate a shareable document
Here is the complete, updated code. It contains all the original styling, animations, and functionality, but now implements the new 58 CAL tipping point for Virtual Machines where Software Assurance is only added automatically by the environment requirement. You can copy and paste this entire block directly into your project: SQL Server Licensing Calculator

Important notice
The calculations here are designed to provide a guide on licensing and may not be a true representation of the cheapest option. Subscription licenses have ongoing costs but provide additional benefits, making it impossible to determine a single option as universally cheaper. The recommendations provided by this Calculator are for guidance purposes only. It is the responsibility of the user to review and validate these recommendations to ensure that the final solution purchased and configured meets all Microsoft licensing requirements and compliance standards.
