Visual Studio 2022 with GitHub Enterprise

In an Enterprise Agreement a customer may purchase the following licenses to license users for both the Visual Studio 2022 subscription and for access to both the GitHub Enterprise Cloud online service and GitHub Enterprise Server on-premises software:

• Visual Studio 2022 Professional with GitHub Enterprise
• Visual Studio 2022 Enterprise with GitHub Enterprise

Alternatively, these Step-up licenses may be purchased for any users already licensed for Visual Studio 2022 Enterprise or Professional to additionally license users for GitHub Enterprise:

• GitHub Enterprise for Visual Studio 2022 Professional
• GitHub Enterprise for Visual Studio 2022 Enterprise

And finally, as you might expect, there’s a Step-up license to move from Visual Studio 2022 Professional with GitHub Enterprise to Visual Studio 2022 Enterprise with GitHub Enterprise.

Visual Studio Professional 2022

Visual Studio Professional 2022 is the standalone perpetual license for Visual Studio aimed at users who just need the Visual Studio Professional IDE. Users have rights to previous versions of Visual Studio Professional but don’t get any of the subscriber benefits or access to either on-premises or online Azure DevOps solutions. These licenses are only available through the Volume Licensing agreements where Software Assurance isn’t mandatory (Select Plus and MPSA agreements) or as a perpetual license through the CSP program.

Visual Studio Community 2022

Visual Studio Community 2022 is a free IDE, and individual developers may use it to build free or paid-for apps. There are restrictions on using it in enterprise organizations which are defined as having more than 250 PCs or more than $1,000,000 in annual revenue. In this case, use is limited to classroom learning environments, for academic research, or for contributing to open-source projects. Non-enterprise organizations, however, can use it for commercial development tasks with up to 5 users.
