{"id":551,"date":"2014-08-04T14:00:06","date_gmt":"2014-08-04T13:00:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.licensingschool.co.uk\/?p=551"},"modified":"2014-08-04T14:00:06","modified_gmt":"2014-08-04T13:00:06","slug":"overview-of-the-changes-to-the-july-2014-volume-licensing-product-use-rights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.licensingschool.co.uk\/licensing-blog\/2014\/08\/04\/overview-of-the-changes-to-the-july-2014-volume-licensing-product-use-rights\/","title":{"rendered":"Overview of the Changes to the July 2014 Volume Licensing Product Use Rights"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There\u2019s no one particular product that stands out this month for grabbing the lion\u2019s share of the changes \u2013 they\u2019re distributed over several products, so I\u2019ve taken the liberty of listing them here in the order that I personally find them most interesting \u2013 it\u2019s a perk of the job you know!<\/p>\n<p>Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard and Datacenter \u2013 pages 25\/27<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Office 365 E3 and E4 (A3\/A4 and G3\/G4 too) lose the rights to access Rights Management Services in Windows Server<\/li>\n<li>The Enterprise Mobility Suite USL is added as a qualifying CAL for this service<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Project Server \u2013 page 35<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It\u2019s confirmed that a Project Lite USL is included as a qualifying CAL for Project Server<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>SQL 2014 Enterprise Server \u2013 page 37<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>That jolly useful section that detailed the idiosyncrasies of this licence has been removed and you\u2019re now directed to the April 2014 PUR<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Dynamics AX 2012 R3 Store Server \u2013 pages 33\/34<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This is a new kid on the block for August 2014. It\u2019s licensed with the Server\/CAL model and the CALs are the same as those used with the AX 2012 R3 Server product<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Dynamics AX 2012 R3 Standard Commerce Server Core \u2013 pages 43\/44<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Best friends with the new Store Server licence above, this licence joins the select family of Core licences where the licensing rules that you\u2019re familiar with apply<\/li>\n<li>The Retail and eCommerce Licensing Guide from Microsoft show how these products are used together to license various key scenarios: <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/1oiTFgF\">http:\/\/bit.ly\/1oiTFgF<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Forefront Identity Manager 2010 R2 \u2013 page 31<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Normally, a Forefront product would (frankly) be guaranteed bottom place on my list for interest, but I do think it\u2019s interesting that certain new USLs have been added to FIM\u2019s list of qualifying CALs. It seems like the Enterprise Mobility Suite is the new golden child of Microsoft licensing since that makes the list, as does the Microsoft Azure Active Directory Premium USL<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Visual Studio Team Foundation Server 2013 \u2013 page 38<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This product now includes rights to SQL Server 2014<\/li>\n<li>Another CAL exception is added to the list as it\u2019s confirmed that a CAL is not required when Visual Studio Team Foundation Server is accessed through a pooled connection from another integrated application or service<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Office 365 E3 for Nonprofits USLs \u2013 page 32 for example<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The list of qualifying CALs for the server products are updated to include the E3 SKU for Nonprofits.
