{"id":7670,"date":"2025-12-12T14:59:29","date_gmt":"2025-12-12T14:59:29","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2025-12-17T10:41:11","modified_gmt":"2025-12-17T10:41:11","slug":"windows-365-reserve","status":"publish","type":"lessons","link":"https:\/\/www.licensingschool.co.uk\/licenseverse\/windows-365\/windows-365-reserve\/","title":{"rendered":"Windows 365 Reserve"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Overview<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/en-us\/windows-365\/enterprise\/introduction-windows-365-reserve\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Windows 365 Reserve<\/a> is a solution that gives licensed users instant access to a temporary, pre-configured Cloud PC when their primary physical device is unavailable \u2013 perhaps through theft or damage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Licensing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Windows 365 Reserve is a user license and may be assigned to users already <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/licensing\/terms\/productoffering\/Windows365\/EAEAS#:~:text=at%20a%20time.-,Windows%20365%20Reserve,-%F0%9F%94%97\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">licensed<\/a> with Windows 10\/11 Enterprise\/Education, Intune, and Microsoft Entra ID Plan 1\/Plan 2. The license allows up to 10 days of Cloud PC access per year for one user.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Windows 365 Reserve licenses aren\u2019t assigned to individual users, they\u2019re applied at the <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/en-us\/windows-365\/enterprise\/windows-365-reserve-license#:~:text=Tenant%2Dlevel%20application\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tenant level<\/a>. IT administrators create a <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/en-us\/windows-365\/enterprise\/windows-365-reserve-manage#:~:text=Create%20a%20Reserve%20provisioning%20policy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Reserve Provisioning Policy<\/a> in Intune, and then assign a Microsoft Entra Group to it, to allocate licenses to users within that group. Cloud PCs can then be provisioned for users starting <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/en-us\/windows-365\/enterprise\/windows-365-reserve-manage#:~:text=Cloud%20PCs%20starting-,seven%20days,-after%20assigning%20that\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">7 days<\/a> after assigning that user a license.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reserve Cloud PCs are provisioned <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/en-us\/windows-365\/enterprise\/windows-365-reserve-manage#:~:text=Reserve%20Cloud%20PCs%20are%20provisioned%20manually\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">manually<\/a> as needed, at which time the 10-day access meter starts counting down, and only pauses when the Cloud PC is manually deprovisioned. The 10 days can be <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/en-us\/windows-365\/enterprise\/windows-365-reserve-license#:~:text=Rules%20and%20restrictions-,Usage,-Each%20Reserve%20license\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">used<\/a> consecutively or spread across the 1-year license term, where a day is defined as a 24-hour period from the time the Cloud PC was provisioned. Any time spent in a 24-hour period counts as a day\u2019s use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once a user\u2019s Reserve Cloud PC has been provisioned, the license is considered to be \u201cused\u201d and can\u2019t be <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/en-us\/windows-365\/enterprise\/windows-365-reserve-license#:~:text=provisioning%20and%20deprovisioning.-,Assignment,-Admins%20create%20a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reassigned<\/a> to another user within the 1-year license term. Unused days <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/en-us\/windows-365\/enterprise\/windows-365-reserve-license#:~:text=to%20new%20users.-,Expiration%C2%A0,-Unused%20days%20expire\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">expire<\/a> when the license term ends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">History<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Windows 365 Reserve was <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.windows.com\/windowsexperience\/2025\/06\/18\/strengthen-business-resilience-with-windows-365-and-azure-virtual-desktop\/#:~:text=Introducing-,Windows%20365%20Reserve,-%3A%20uninterrupted%20access%2C%20secured\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announced<\/a> by Microsoft in <strong>June 2025<\/strong>. it <a href=\"https:\/\/techcommunity.microsoft.com\/blog\/windows-itpro-blog\/enhancing-business-continuity-windows-365-reserve-is-now-in-limited-public-previ\/4441669\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">entered<\/a> limited public preview in <strong>August 2025<\/strong>, and was finally made <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/en-us\/windows-365\/enterprise\/whats-new#windows-365-reserve-now-generally-available\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">generally available<\/a> in <strong>November 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"parent":2733,"menu_order":4,"template":"custom-single.php","lesson_category":[56],"class_list":["post-7670","lessons","type-lessons","status-publish","hentry","lesson_category-online-services","entry","no-media"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.6 -
