Licensing for security and compliance

Security and Compliance Add-ons for Microsoft 365 Business Premium were introduced in September 2025. There are three suites available:

• Microsoft Defender Suite for Business Premium
• Microsoft Purview Suite for Business Premium
• Microsoft Defender and Purview Suite for Business Premium

These suites offer security (Defender) and compliance (Purview) capabilities for small to medium-sized businesses and are intended to give parity with the components included in the Enterprise E5 Security and E5 Compliance at a lower cost. Specifically, they are priced at around 83% of the E5 equivalents, while the F5 Security and F5 Compliance equivalents are priced at around 66% of the E5 versions.

As you would expect, the prerequisite is Microsoft 365 Business Premium and since these are Business User SLs, they are only available through CSP, and there is the usual limitation of 300 User SLs.
